Measure your Starlink connection without an invented baseline.
Measure download, upload, and HTTP-request latency through Cloudflare. Repeat the test over time to build a baseline for your own connection.

Real Cloudflare measurement, no regional ranking.
The browser test cannot identify congestion, obstruction, weather, or Wi-Fi as the cause of a result.

This speed test sends real browser requests to Cloudflare's speed-test endpoints. For download, the browser requests a large payload, stops reading at an approximately 8-second time cap, and calculates throughput from the bytes received. For upload, it repeatedly sends 2 MB blocks with POST requests until the approximately 8-second upload limit is reached.
Latency is measured with 5 small HTTP requests to the Cloudflare endpoint and the median request round-trip time. It is HTTP request latency, not an ICMP ping and not a direct reading from a Starlink dish, satellite, or gateway.
Your results are measured against Cloudflare's global edge network, the same infrastructure used by millions of websites worldwide. No account is required, and SatSpeedCheck stores test history in localStorage on your device. Test traffic goes to Cloudflare, while every page also loads Google Analytics 4 and Google AdSense. Understanding Your Results
Download speed determines how fast you can stream, browse, and pull files. The US median Starlink download was 129.61 Mbps in Q3 2025, according to Ookla 2025 Global Satellite Broadband Performance Report. This is an independent sample median, not a target for every address. Compare repeated runs under similar conditions before treating a result as your baseline.
Upload speed matters for video calls, cloud backups, and live streaming. We do not publish an upload benchmark here because the evidence registry does not contain a verified upload figure. If upload performance changes consistently, compare repeated runs and check firmware, local network load, and unobstructed sky coverage.
Ping (latency) measures round-trip time between your device and the test server. We do not publish a latency benchmark here without a verified source. Lower and more stable latency is generally better for gaming and video calls; compare repeated results on the same device and connection.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does this Starlink speed test work?+
The browser requests a large download from Cloudflare but stops reading after about 8 seconds and calculates throughput from the bytes received. It then repeatedly POSTs 2 MB upload blocks until the upload time limit. Five small HTTP requests provide a median round-trip latency; this is not ICMP ping. Results are stored only in this browser.
Is this test accurate for satellite internet?+
A browser test is useful for tracking your connection, but individual satellite runs can vary. Repeat the test at different hours and compare like-for-like conditions. Avoid testing during firmware updates or heavy weather, both of which can temporarily affect throughput.
What download speed should I expect from Starlink?+
The US median Starlink download was 129.61 Mbps in Q3 2025, according to Ookla 2025 Global Satellite Broadband Performance Report. This is an independent sample median, not a guarantee for your address. Your actual speed depends on cell congestion, dish placement, obstructions, local networking, and time of day.
Why is my Starlink speed lower than expected?+
The most common causes are obstructions (trees, buildings blocking the dish's field of view), peak-hour congestion between 7-11 PM local time, and suboptimal dish placement. Check the Starlink app's obstruction map first. If your dish has a clear sky view and speeds are still low, congestion in your cell is the likely culprit.
How often should I run a speed test?+
Testing once a week at a consistent time gives you a useful trend line. If you suspect a problem, test 3-4 times across different hours in one day — morning, midday, evening, and late night — to isolate whether the issue is congestion-related or persistent.
Does this test work on mobile devices?+
Yes. The test runs entirely in-browser and works on any device with a modern browser — phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop. Make sure your device is connected to your Starlink router's Wi-Fi, not cellular data, or you will be testing your cell carrier instead.
How does Starlink speed compare to other ISPs?+
Fiber and cable are generally faster and lower-latency where modern wired service is available. Fixed 5G depends heavily on local signal and tower load, while legacy geostationary satellite generally has much higher latency. Check address-level availability, current plan terms, and your own repeated measurements instead of relying on an unsourced category average.
